The Red Hat Mamma CD contains 10 songs that I hope to get Members moving...motivated...dancing...sharing with others! These songs are some of my favorites for you to enjoy!
Many people often wonder how a songwriter became inspired to write a song. I decided that I would share the “Behind The Scenes” of each song on the new Red Hat Mamma CD.
WHY…
1. It makes a good conversation piece for interviews on TV or radio.
2. In order to inspire others…it’s good to share!

1. RED HAT MAMMA Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
The story behind the Red Hat Mamma Song starts when a friend and I (Marguerite) went on a four day cruise. To our delight we saw colorful ladies wearing red hats and purple outfits everywhere we looked.
When I asked one of the ladies to tell me more…she invited Marguerite and I to join her and her Red Hat Sisters in a designated area for lunch and entertainment.
During the entertainment portion of this event, a woman sang numerous songs that were slow and dragging. Immediately she lost her audience’s attention.
I mentioned to Marguerite that I would love to entertain these ladies…I so love their look and their infectious spirit. By the time that day had ended, I had the words and the music to Red Hat Mamma song.
Eventually, during the taping of one of my TV Shows, while on location, I met a wonderful, amazing Chapter of Red Hatters, Queen Josie Silva and the Victorian Red Hatters of Glendora while they were performing in a fabulous "high fashion" fashion show...
And history was made…The Red Hat Mamma song found it’s first group of Red Hat Mammas!

In 2017 I became the Business to Business Manager at The Red Hat Society Inc.
2. Grandma's Home Remedy Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
As the title suggests, this song was written about my grandmother… Mioma Mae Woodfork. I am from a small town in Ohio, Bloomingburg. My grandparents were farmers and my grandfather was a minister. They had 13 children. Grandma had a cure for everything.
All of her 13 kids matured into adulthood. In fact Grandma past away before any of her children at the age of 76.
I'm the middle kid of seven and we lived down the street from my grandparents. My mom was the person who taught me how to sing. To me mom sang like an angel.
Since this song is in the style of Country Music, we booked time in Nashville, TN. It is one of four songs that we hired Bobby Randall of Sawyer Brown fame to produce.
Grandma's Home Remedy has a great beat for Country Line Dancing...the steps to The Red Hat Mamma Line Dance also can apply to Grandma's Home Remedy.
3. Drag Racing Baby & 4. Drag Racing U.S.A. Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
In the late 80’s and 90’s, I sang at various National Hot Rod Association NHRA events across the U.S.A.
During this time we produced a special (Picture Disc) album that includes the songs Drag Racing Baby & Drag Racing U.S.A. I title them the NHRA Theme Songs.
Both songs tell a colorful tale about Drag Racing...Plus you can also Line Dance to these songs.
5. Let's Go Party Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
In 1988, I charted Billboard Country Record Charts, Cashbox and Indie Charts with my song Let’s Go Party a single from my 1st album Kathy Bee Stings.
This is a fun song written for my friends Zena and Rocky who would come out to the lounges to hear me perform on Saturday Nights. They were even in the Let's Go Party Music Video!
My daughter Karrie was two years old and she would sing…”Let’s Go Potty” (we were potty training)!
Additionally that year, I won the awards for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year frm the California Country Music Association (CCMA).
6. Party Time Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
As a comeback “Rock and Roll” version of the spirit of my song “Let’s Go Party” I wrote and recorded the song Party Time.
It was recorded in Los Angeles where I performed with some of my favorite musician friends…We all had a great time jamming and improvising.
At live events my back-up band had a fun playing this upbeat song that got the dancers moving!
7. What You Do To Me Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
Another one of my favorite tunes from the “Stings” album is What You Do To Me. This was written while I was thinking about why some women stay in a bad relationship...It's easy to sing along and dance to this upbeat song!
Through the airplay and because my fans really enjoyed the music on the Stings album, I was able to land a guest spot and performed on the TV Show Nashville Now. The host was Ralph Emory.
I was also the headliner in my own theater the Queen Bee Theater!

9. Red Hatter's Auld Lang Syne Lyrics By Kathy Bee & Music Ernest Tomlinson
The traditional Auld Lang Syne song with Red Hat Society lyrics that I wrote so that RHS Members could celebrate the New Year the Red Hat Society way!
10. Do The Dream Lyrics & Music By Kathy Bee
I had a dream that I would be able to help others to realize their own dreams. If I can help one person to share his or her dream/gift with others and become more fulfilled…then I would have completed one of my Dreams of “People Helping People”.
Helping women to age in a fun more fulfilled way...is another dream come true!
I am grateful for the opportunity to share with you...my music!
